The Advanced Heart Failure/Cardiac Transplantation Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center has added a physician to assist with patient care in an area of cardiovascular disease that's increasing in prevalence.
University of Mississippi Medical Center is an umbrella organization that combines the University Hospitals and Health System (UHHS) and University Physicians (UP), the medical faculty practice plan.UHHS is comprised of the teaching hospitals for all University of Mississippi Medical Center educational programs and serves as a 722-bed diagnostic and treatment referral center for the entire state. Inpatient admissions total approximately 28,000 annually. Outpatient and emergency department visits exceed 250,000 per year.

University Physicians Medical Pavilion is a practice site for many subspecialties of UP. The structure, which is more than 80,000 square feet, adjoins the James D. Hardy Clinical Sciences Building, the home of a number of medical offices.UP has recently opened two off-campus locations in the Rankin County town of Flowood - a multispecialty practice at Grants Ferry and an obstetrics-gynecology practice at Mirror Lake.
