The dental school encourages all students to participate in research related to dentistry and consider careers which include academic dental research. Opportunities for students to involve themselves in research include the UPSTART summer research program and the Honors in Research Program. There are no classes scheduled for the summer between the first and second year to allow students to to participate in research as early as possible in their professional training. Students who decide to pursue research then have ample to time to find mentors, complete projects and publish research before graduation!
