Steele receives ASRT’s Osborn minority prize
The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) recently awarded a $4,000 Royce Osborn Minority Student Scholarship to Jalyssa Steele, a second-year radiologic sciences student at UMMC.
Steele is one of only five radiologic sciences students nationwide to receive the award, which is presented to minority students in entry-level radiography, sonography, magnetic resonance imaging, radiation therapy or nuclear medicine technology programs. She serves as one of two student delegates for the Mississippi Society of Radiologic Technologists (MSRT).
Steele participated in the 2014 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting in Orlando, Fla. The ASRT Student Leadership Development Program identifies and works with potential leaders, helping them network and engage professionals in their field.
