Emory pathologist to discuss prostate cancer
Dr. Carlos Moreno, associate professor of pathology at Emory University School of Medicine, will be the guest lecturer and Freddie White-Johnson, founder and president of the Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation and program director for the Mississippi Network for Cancer Control and Prevention at the University of Southern Mississippi, will discuss community efforts to fight prostate cancer deaths in the Mississippi Delta at a Prostate Cancer Research Mini Symposium from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, in second-floor conference rooms A and B at the Norman C. Nelson Student Union.
The symposium will include presentations by Cancer Institute researchers Dr. Anait Levenson and Dr. Yin-Yuan Mo. Six Jackson State University and Tougaloo College students who have spent weeks working with UMMC prostate cancer researchers also will give presentations.
