Group offers help for breast cancer survivors
Chatting before a Breast Cancer Support Luncheon May 15 at the Jackson Medical Mall Thad Cochran Center are, from left, Erin Campbell, Deborah Simpson, Marna Walker and Mary Lindsey Jackson.
Jackson, a dietitian at Whole Foods, spoke at the event, describing ways to make meals more nutritious and providing recipes and details on foods that scientists have found to have cancer-fighting or immune system-boosting properties.
Walker, who works in the School of Dentistry, and Simpson, of University Cancer Care Breast Services, were among approximately 25 women who attended the event, which was organized by Campbell and Lynne Smithhart..
The luncheon is part of the University Cancer Care Breast Services' goal of providing support and information for women and men who have survived breast cancer.
