McDonald House to host first Red Shoe 5K

red shoeThe Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mississippi will host the organization's first Red Shoe 5K Run/Walk to help provide a "home away from home" for families with critically ill children being treated in Jackson-area hospitals on Saturday, May 17, at the northwest corner of the UMMC campus.

The event will include the 5K run/walk, a Corporation Kids fun run, and a drawing for a Wyatt Waters painting. Awards will be presented to the top men and women runners and top three places in differing age divisions.

Registration for the 5K costs $25 before the race or $30 on the day of the race. Corporation Kids Fun Run registration costs $15 before the race or $20 on the day of the race. All participants will receive a Wyatt Waters T-shirt.

Registration is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. with a race warm-up scheduled for 7:45 a.m. The 5K will begin at 8 a.m. and the fun run will begin at 9 a.m.

The deadline for preregistration is Monday, May 12. For more information, email pam@rmhcmississippi.org.
