Med Center now boasts ‘White Coat of Quality’
The Medical Center has earned the Surescripts' 2013 White Coat of Quality Award, according to Valentina Lengkong, quality technician for Surescripts, the most comprehensive ecosystem of health-care organizations nationwide.
UMMC was selected for the award because of its commitment to eliminating electronic prescription content errors. The award recognizes organizations that uphold the highest standards of quality in e-prescribing and is a featured part of Surescripts' quality program, which seeks to achieve 100 percent reliability in e-prescribing.
"The Surescripts White Coat of Quality program aims to improve the clinical quality of electronic prescriptions by recognizing vendors who have successfully implemented improvements to their technology and prescriber training," said Dr. Michael Todaro, director of pharmacy. "UMMC has worked diligently on implementing proven clinical quality guidelines and best practices that help our Epic specialists deliver continuous improvements to workflow to help prescribers and pharmacists realize the full benefits of e-prescribing and electronic information exchange.
"This achievement recognizes the outstanding work and achievement of our EPIC team partnering with our health care providers to assure the safest process for prescribing medications."
"We applaud (the) University of Mississippi Medical Center's dedication and commitment to improve and provide an efficient and safe e-prescribing process," Lengkong wrote.
