Receptions honor cancer patients, caregivers

Vera Malone, right, of Sallis, visits with Dr. Barbara Craft, center, assistant professor of medicine and an oncologist, and Deborah Simpson, breast services administrative assistant, during the first of four receptions hosted by the University Cancer Care Breast Services team as part of a national breast cancer awareness campaign Oct. 3.

The team showed its support and encouragement for breast cancer patients and their caregivers by hosting the receptions, which will continue every Thursday through the month of October. Refreshments and gift bags for patients and caregivers will be available at each event.

Health Care Medical, which is cosponsoring the receptions, will host a display of mastectomy items. Breast services staff also will be selling 2013 Breast Cancer T-shirts at a discounted price, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk.

For more information about the receptions, call 5-2005.
