Students STEP right through dental school
Third-year dental student Ricardo Lemus, far right, leads a group of 57 students on a tour of the School of Dentistry Dec. 1 on behalf of the UMMC student chapter of the Hispanic Student Dental Association.
The students, representing grades 6-8 in the Jackson Public Schools, Choctaw Tribal Schools and Humphreys County School District in the Delta, are part of the Science Training and Enrichment Program (STEP) offered through the Division of Multicultural Affairs.
Lemus is president of the UMMC chapter of HSDA. Dr. Gaarmel Funches, second from right, director of Community Education and Outreach, also was on hand for the tour. (Larger Image)
