Anesthesiology faculty welcome Baig
Dr. Harris R. Baig, an anesthesiologist with a special interest in cardiac and transplant anesthesia, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of anesthesiology.
Baig is a graduate of Dow Medical College, University of Karachi, Pakistan. He had residency in anesthesiology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, from 1992-95. Baig later continued in fellowship training in obstetric anesthesia at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, from 1995-96.
As assistant professor at the Shifa College of Medicine, Islamabad, Pakistan, from 2001-12, Baig helped establish a cardiac surgery department and led it until 2006. He also was instrumental in setting up a liver transplant program at the same institute.
Before joining UMMC, Baig also served four years as a clinical assistant professor of anesthesiology at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center, Shreveport.
