CAP Foundation honors pathology resident
Dr. Feriyl Bhaijee, a house officer in pathology, received the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Foundation's Leadership Development Award at the foundation's CAP '12 - THE Pathologists' Meeting Sept. 8 in San Diego, Calif.
Bhaijee of Cape Town, South Africa, was recognized for her leadership in meeting with residents from other pathology programs and policymakers to help shape and influence the specialty of pathology to provide high-quality patient care.
Bhaijee is a third-year resident in the anatomic and clinical pathology residency program. She earned a combined bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery degree with distinction in clinical examinations at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She participated in a two-year rotating internship in internal medicine, surgery and trauma, and obstetrics at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town.
Bhaijee is the junior member of the CAP Cancer Committee and a member of the CAP Spokespersons Network. She has authored several articles for one of the CAP's online scientific publication.
