Pastoral care event to give voice to community
Pastoral Care Services will host a series of Pastoral Care Week events, “Giving Voice,” Monday-Friday, Oct. 22-26, in and around the Medical Center Chapel.
The festivities will include worship, sacred stories, liturgical dances, songs, diversity education opportunities and devotional discussions.
Scheduled events include:
Monday, Oct. 22
8:30 a.m.: Morning Glory presentation by Margarette Spires Palmer, environmental services technician
Noon: Inaugural celebration in the University Hospital foyer: Dr. Ruth Black, the UMMC Choir and a Ballet Magnificat Trainee Company
Tuesday, Oct. 23
8:30 a.m.: Morning Glory presentation by Marvin Turner, billing specialist for University Physicians
10:30 a.m.: “Patient Centered Care: Giving Voice to Culturally Diverse Patients” panel in room 7A
10:15 p.m.: PCW staff and employee devotional, NSICU conference room
Wednesday, Oct. 24
8:30 a.m.: Morning Glory presentation by Hubie Nelson of Tabernacle Christian and former VAMC chaplain
10 a.m.: “Stories that Nourish the Soul” presentation by Linda McComb, hospital chaplain, at the Central Billing Office, Clinton
11 a.m.: Community Clergy and UMMC Clinician Luncheon and Health Education Fair at the Norman E. Nelson Student Union
