OT students teach backpack awareness
Kayla Willoughby, first-year occupational therapy student, coaches third-graders in a backpack relay race at Poindexter Elementary School Sept. 18 in Jackson.
In recognition of a national school backpack awareness campaign sponsored by the American Occupational Therapy Association, the School of Health Related Professions' first-year OT class visited four different schools in the Jackson metropolitan area to teach students tips on packing and wearing backpacks safely to avoid injuries.
In addition to Willoughby, OT students who visited Poindexter included Ariel Dawkins, Ashley Harlan, Calland Manning, Caitlin Adams, Beverly Cole and Ebony Fears.
