In memoriam
Joyce Butler, a neonatal nurse practitioner in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, died Aug. 14 after a long illness. She was 54.
Butler had been a Newborn Center staff member for 31 years and had led the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program for the last 21 years.
“Her professional and ethical values have been integrated into the fabric of each and every neonatal NP that has trained here over the last 21 years,” said Donna Windsor, business administrator for the Department of Pediatrics. “She was admired and respected by physicians, nurses, patients and families.
“Joyce was devoted to the care of her 94-year-old mother in her home.” Butler’s mother died Aug. 13.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, in the University Hospital Chapel.
