New med students participate in coat ceremony
First-year School of Medicine student Jared White, right, receives his Humanism in Medicine pin while his twin brother Parker is "coated" by Dr. Loretta Jackson, associate dean, during the Class of 2016 White Coat Ceremony held at the Belhaven Performing Arts Center Aug. 10. Each of the 135-member class received a Humanism in Medicine pin and their white coats with the student's name and the medical school’s escutcheon symbolizing that the owner is a physician in training. The students then together recited the Oath of Hippocrates.
