ADA taps Kirk for leadership diversity role
Dr. Pia Chatterjee Kirk, assistant professor of care planning and restorative sciences in the School of Dentistry, recently was selected to participate in the 2012-13 American Dental Association Institute for Diversity in Leadership. She is one of only 12 dentists in the nation selected for this year’s program.
Over the course of a year, Kirk and her fellow participants will attend three training sessions by faculty from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management at the ADA headquarters in Chicago. Participants also will take part in conference calls and a web forum for ongoing interaction.
The program seeks to build a lifetime network of supportive relationships among alumni as they move on to leadership roles in their profession. Kirk has been a faculty member at UMMC since 2000.
Established in 2003 by the American Dental Association, the Institute provides a diverse group of dentists with training and experience to develop new leadership paths within the profession and their communities.
