By Patrice Guilfoyle

Earl Coleman, left, of the American Heart Association presents a Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Bronze Award to members of University Neurosciences-Stroke Care, from left, Dr. Hartmut Uschmann, associate professor of neurology; Kim Stonecypher, clinical director of nursing services; Dr. Alexander P. Auchus, professor of neurology; and Ginnie Ingram, manager of the stroke program.

Coleman announced that University of Mississippi Health Care's stroke program already has qualified for Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) silver status for 2011. The AHA awards recognize hospitals that demonstrate at least 85 percent compliance in each of the seven GWTG-Stroke Achievement Measures. The bronze award recognizes adherence to evidence-based guidelines for stroke care for 90 consecutive days. The silver award recognizes compliance over 12 consecutive months.
