Celebrity Chef Cat Cora to tour school of nursing, visit students

WHAT: Celebrity chef and Jackson native Cat Cora of Food Network’s Iron Chef America, along with her mother, Dr. Virginia Lee Cora, UMMC professor emeritus of nursing, will tour the School of Nursing’s clinical simulation laboratory while meeting faculty and students in the school. Cat Cora and Dr. Cora will be available for media interviews.

WHEN: Monday, August 18, at 3 p.m.

WHERE: The Christine L. Oglevee Building that houses the School of Nursing on the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Jackson campus. Media parking will be available beginning at 2:45 p.m. in front of the building.

Those arriving at the Medical Center from the main entrance on North State Street should turn left onto University Drive and take the first right after circling Parking Garage A; the Christine L. Oglevee Building will be on the left.

Those arriving at the Medical Center from the Lakeland Drive entrance should continue down University Drive East, take a right onto University Drive and take the first left after passing the Guyton Research Center on the left; the Christine L. Oglevee Building will be on the left.

WHY: The tour is in advance of the Mississippi Culanthropy, a culinary philanthropic event featuring Cat Cora and eight of Jackson’s top chefs to benefit UMMC School of Nursing scholarships, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Table 100 in Flowood.

PLEASE NOTE: Media availability at the Mississippi Culanthropy may be limited, so Monday’s tour will provide the best opportunity for media access to Cat Cora as she visits with those who will benefit most from her participation in this culinary philanthropic event.
