Media Contact: Jack Mazurak at 601-984-1970 or jmazurak@umc.edu.

WHAT: A UMMC pediatric interventional cardiologist will perform two live procedures in Jackson that will be televised to the Pediatric and Adult Interventional Cardiology Symposium in Miami.

MEDIA INTERVIEW: 3:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 21.

WHERE: Pediatric catheterization laboratory, UMMC

PARKING:
Garage B, across from the Emergency Room entrance

VIDEO:
UMMC-recorded b-roll of one procedure and interview clips with Dr. Makram Ebeid will be available Monday afternoon at www.dropbox.com/sh/osy2fohuudgi9z3/ZjNzvlARMS

WHY: Dr. Makram Ebeid, UMMC professor of pediatric cardiology, has been invited to perform two heart-repair procedures televised live to an international meeting of interventional cardiologists. UMMC is the only location in Mississippi offering catheterized congenital heart defect repair, and one of only a handful of locations in the South. Since catheterized procedures are far less invasive than surgery, patients recover quicker. Ebeid will demonstrate technique, process and technology involved in the procedures.
