Mississippi Highway Patrol Holds State-Wide Toy Drive for Children’s Hospital

Media Contact: Amanda Alliston at 601-984-1976 or aalliston@umc.edu.

WHAT: Members of Mississippi Highway Patrol will deliver toys collected in a state-wide drive to Batson Children’s Hospital. The toys, which were collected from more than 50 drop-off points in 43 Mississippi communities, will be given to patients in the hospital during the holidays.

WHEN: Monday, December 17 at 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Frontage road on the south side of campus, just in front of the Batson Children’s Hospital

WHY: Mississippi Highway Patrol, along with the Nick Bell Foundation, various businesses and 43 communities throughout the state, have collected a large amount of toys for the Children’s Hospital this holiday season. This is the first year Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Nick Bell Foundation have held a toy drive for the Children’s Hospital.

During the holiday season, Children’s Hospital collects donations of new toys to create gift bags—“Santa Bags”—for the patients who are hospitalized over the holidays. These bags are delivered, with Santa’s help, to each patient on Christmas Eve.
