We’ve got SPIRIT. How ‘bout U?
By Patrice Sawyer Guilfoyle
During the week of May 7-11, all Medical Center employees are invited to “Catch the UMMC Spirit” through a series of events both on and off campus. Register for a drawing to trade parking spaces with a hospital administrator for one week, nominate a co-worker for a Team Spirit Award and get tickets for UMMC Night at the Mississippi Braves.
Also, Barbie Bassett, WLBT meteorologist, will talk about “Big Lessons from Small Beginnings” at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, in classroom R354 (upper amphitheatre). That’s just to name a few activities.
“Extraordinary people work at UMMC. It is our hope that each person feels appreciated and valued,” said Michelle Burns, nursing workforce specialist and planning committee member.
Beginning Thursday, April 26, employees can buy a T-shirt featuring the spirit week logo that can be worn to work on Thursday, May 10. The shirts, $9 each, can be purchased from the bookstore in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union or Meds and Threads.
“Our staff this year has truly come together and made the impossible possible,” said Alaina Herrington, nurse recruiter and committee member. “We plan on giving them the celebrity treatment they deserve with VIP parking, red-carpet greetings, awards and a premiere movie showing.”
