Taste of the U last call for Cooks

Members of the University of Mississippi Medical Center's 2012 Taste of the U committee prepare for what may be their largest party and fundraiser yet. To inflate the massive, multi-theme party to a record size, committee members want to send out a final invitation for chef teams.

The success of this ambitious evening, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Jackson Medical Mall, is entirely due to the generous participation of UMMC volunteer chefs and their teams. And for Taste, there's no such thing as too many cooks. Any of UMMC's divisions, offices and departments can form chef teams and participate. It's not too late!

Teams need to select a theme, plan a menu and enjoy all of the fun and camaraderie. Join Taste for a friendly competition to win category awards for Best Presentation, People's Choice, Best Taste and Best Overall, which comes with the Dr. Fine Swine trophy and bragging rights for the entire year. Taste Committee members added a new award this year, Kid's Choice.

For 22 years, Taste, the major fundraiser of the UMMC Alliance, has raised money to support the needs of our patients, students, staff and facilities. Dr. Helen Turner, the Medical Center's associate vice chancellor for academic affairs, is this year's honorary chair.

To sign up a team or for more information, contact Mechelle Keeton, Taste of the U Committee "Chef Finder" at kmkeeton@umc.edu or 4-4141.
