Professor of Nursing
Director of Continuing Education & Faculty Development
Dr. P. Renée Williams’ clinical specialty is maternal/newborn and women’s health nursing, and she is certified as a childbirth educator. She teaches in the undergraduate program, as well as the Nurse Educator track of the MSN program. Her research interests include breast cancer prevention, health awareness and decreasing health disparities among ethnic minorities. As a professional nurse for over 30 years and director of continuing education and faculty development for the School of Nursing, she believes it is important to promote and support the successful growth of nursing through lifelong learning, and to improve the number of ethnic minorities practicing in the profession through recruitment, counseling and mentoring. She is an active member of several professional nursing organizations, serving as an officer or committee chairperson. She also coordinates and participates in several community education and outreach projects to improve ethnic minority and underserved populations’ access to health-care services to achieve better health outcomes.
