Biography

Mary McNair is an instructor in the undergraduate baccalaureate nursing program. After graduating with her BSN, she began working as a staff nurse in a women's health unit at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The unit included antepartum high-risk patients, women undergoing gynecological surgery and gyn-oncology patients. She quickly became interested in the pathophysiology and psychosocial aspects of care for women with gynecological cancers, and out of that interest, grew her love for end-of-life and palliative care.

She received a certification in Oncology Nursing in 1999 and has continued that certification since that time. At present, she is also a certified End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium trainer. Additionally, she currently is pursuing her doctoral studies in clinical health sciences and plans to focus on access to palliative/hospice care in rural Mississippi.
