Instructor in Nursing
Kayla Carr serves as an instructor in the School of Nursing at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she teaches in the Accelerated BSN program. Prior to becoming a faculty member in 2014, she worked as a registered nurse in women’s health, medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics and community health. Carr has worked with the Mercy Delta Express Project since 2011. She currently practices at the SON school-based clinics and with the Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS). She completed research and thesis work in the Mississippi Delta as a Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College student, and continues to seek practice and research opportunities with rural and medically underserved populations.Carr’s areas of interest include innovations in global and rural health care systems, access to health care for vulnerable populations, and school-based health centers as interprofessional learning environments.
