Assistant Professor of NursingInterim Director, Nurse Educator track
Jennifer Hitt received a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Mississippi, a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Memphis and a Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is currently a candidate for a Ph.D. in Nursing Research from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where her area of research is diabetes and metabolic syndrome in children and adolescence. Prior to coming to UMMC in 2008, she worked as a medical/surgical nurse and hospital educator. She is currently an assistant professor of nursing and interim director of the MSN Nurse Educator track. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Southern Nursing Research Society, and the current vice-president of the Mississippi Nurses Association. She has represented the nurses of Mississippi as the state representative to the American Nurses Association in 2012 and 2013, and actively works on legislation at the state and national level, regarding safety and nursing practice. She is a certified nursing educator with the National League of Nursing.
