    Biography

    Ellen Williams serves as associate professor at the University of Mississippi School of Nursing and as director of the Nurse Educator track in the MSN program. She teaches Discipline of Nursing, Health Policy and Population Health and Research Design and Methods for Advanced Nursing Practice. She is located on the Oxford campus.

    She has worked as a nurse educator for many years and most recently served as dean of nursing at Northwest Mississippi Community College (NWCC). She has served on many regional and state health-related committees and boards, including the Mississippi Board of Health for nine years. Her clinical experience includes psychiatric, emergency and medical-surgical nursing. Dr. Williams is a member of the American Nurses’ Association, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and the American Academy of Nursing. She received her PhD in nursing from UMMC in 2012, and her research interests include obesity, weight and body size among women and adolescent girls.
