Research focal areas/capstone inquiry
The research of the DNP Program is conducted through the completion of a the capstone inquiry. The capstone inquiry is the scholarly activity that culminates in the knowledge application of evidence-based practice and translation obtained during the doctoral program. Topics for the capstone are drawn from the students' areas of interest.
Students identify and implement an inquiry, such as a pilot study, program evaluation or quality-improvement project. With the help of a two-member committee, the student integrates and applies appropriate theories and inquiry methods to achieve specified outcomes. The student provides the committee with a proposal, a practice-related inquiry, and the work results in a written document, with an oral defense.
