  • Course Description

     

    • RADIO 651. Senior Radiology (E). This elective is for students with an interest in radiology, especially those interested in pursuing a career in the field or those seeking to sharpen their skills in basic radiograph interpretation. The student spends four weeks rotating through the various subspecialties of radiology: Abdominal, Breast (Mammography), Cardiothoracic, Neuroradiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pediatric, Ultrasonography, and Vascular & Interventional Radiology. The student will work at least one day in each subspecialty, with other days of the rotation being elective. Students will also take an abbreviated call four (4) times during the month (last no later than 10 p.m.). Grades for this elective are based on: attendance, rotation evaluations (completed by staff and residents), case presentation, online quizzes and a final exam. Attendance will be expected, required, and must be appropriately recorded to pass this block. The case presentation will be 10-15 minutes in length and delivered during a departmental conference toward the end of the month (as scheduled). The final exam will be composed of a series of written questions and radiographic images. The exam will cover material presented in the lecture and in the readings. A textbook and curriculum will be provided. (8 students per month. Available all months except May and December).
    • RADIO 656.¬†Special Radiology Elective¬†(E). A self-designated rotation in radiology clinical areas in which the student will rotate through one or two subspecialty areas of interest. Attendance will be expected, required, and must be appropriately recorded to pass this block. The student will also present an interesting case observed during their rotation (15-20 minutes in length) at a departmental conference (as scheduled). Additional requirements may vary based on chosen subspecialty area. Completion of RADIO 651 is a pre-requisite. (4 students per month. Available all months except May and December.)
