The University of Mississippi Medical Center/ Veterans Affairs Medical Center Residency Consortium in Jackson, MS, offers clinical rotations in both child and adult tracks. Residents are encouraged to participate in rotations in both tracks.
The residency year is divided into four 3-month rotations. Prior to the start of the residency year, each resident will be asked to rank the rotations that they would like to have during their internship experience. Rotation assignments for the first and second rotations will be made based upon residents’ rankings of preference. Assignments for the third and fourth rotations will be based upon residents’ rankings that are solicited in October. This allows for residents to discuss their experiences with early rotations before having to make choices about their interests for the second half of the training year.
Many rotations offer both half-time (14 hrs/week) and full-time (28 hrs/week) experiences and there are several mini-rotation (4-8 hrs/week) opportunities as well. The rotation descriptions will provide specific information about what options are available for each rotation. Rotation descriptions are grouped by child or adult track.
