Dr. Payne is active in many societies, including the American Psychological Association, Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence (charter member), Mississippi Psychological Association, Society for Research on Nicotine & Tobacco (charter member), and the Society of Behavioral Medicine.
Publications of note
Dr. Payne has more than 80 published articles and book chapters. He is a frequent presenter at both national and local meetings, including ongoing state and national workshops for health care providers in the treatment of tobacco-dependent patients.
