  • Residency Program

The faculty and residents of the University of Mississippi Medical Center would like to thank you for your interest in our program. UMMC is designated as the only Level III referral center in the state and receives high-risk maternity and gynecological patients from all 82 counties in Mississippi, as well as from the adjoining states of Louisiana, Arkansas and Alabama.

Our program consists of 24 residents divided into four classes of six residents. Our residents have competed their medical school training at UMMC, Tulane University, Howard University, Lake Erie College, Meharry Medical College, University of Arkansas, Texas Tech University and Louisiana State University among others. Our balanced program contains approximately 17% male and 83% female.

Our staff members include generalists and physicians trained in gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology, urogynecology and maternal-fetal medicine. We also have an excellent three-year maternal-fetal medicine fellowship that accepts two fellows each year.

The faculty and residents at UMMC have established a tradition of teaching and learning proven to develop outstanding obstetricians and gynecologists practicing across Mississippi and numerous locations throughout the United States.

Resident knowledge and experience are gained on all OB/GYN services through core didactics, conferences, rounds and daily supervision by faculty. Additional experience gained by each resident occurs during his/her participation in the educational process of other residents and third- or fourth-year medical students.
