    Fellowship information

The UMMC Rheumatology Fellowship is a two-year fellowship that focuses on all aspects of rheumatology training including clinical skills, scholarly activity, teaching and development of consultative ability.

    Division information

Under the leadership of Robert McMurray, MD, the Division of Rheumatology continues to actively and aggressively pursue its clinical, academic, research and administrative missions. During this past year, we have expanded our clinical services and our faculty, have provided community and institutional education programs, has increased our focus on research, and further developed the Metabolic Bone Disease and Osteoporosis Program.

The division’s board-certified academic rheumatologists and rheumatology fellows provide consultative services at University Hospital, UP Medical Pavilion and the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery VA Medical Center. The division maintains vigorous outpatient services at the VA medical center and the Medical Pavilion.

In addition to its expansive clinical care services, the division has a comprehensive research program in place, featuring studies of cell and molecular immunology, cytokine immunobiology, complement immunology, immunoendocrinology, and osteoporosis. As a division, we try to provide and expect the highest standards of educational programs to the fellows, residents, and students and do so primarily in the clinical settings but also through Divisional conferences, didactic lectures and grand rounds. We are recognized regionally and nationally through our recent abstract and meeting presentations.

Currently recognized as one of the largest and most qualified university-based rheumatology groups in the region, we continue to strive for excellence in clinical care, education, research and health care administration.
