Quarterly CRIC presentation
- Dr. Timothy Flannigan from the Brown University’s Centerfor AIDS Research gave a presentation on Jan. 31, 2012, as part of theDistinguished Lecturer Series. His talk was titled "Hope and Despair - Lessons Learned from the Global HIV Epidemic."
Collaborating with UAB
- In July, the group received an $8,700 Faculty Scholarship Exchange award from the UMMC Office of Faculty Development. That provides funding for startup costs like formal meetings with research center directors at UAB and UMMC. A team from CRIC met with their Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences and other center directors to obtain expertise in setting up a multidisciplinary group and not have to reinvent the wheel.
Presentation
- In collaboration with the Office of Research, CRIC sponsored Dr. Richard Allman, University Alabama in Birmingham, at the Distinguished Lecture Series, June 28. Dr. Allman, Parrish Endowed Professor of Medicine and Director of Birmingham/Atlanta Geriatric Research will present “The UAB Study of Aging: Lessons Learned from Interdisciplinary Research." Dr. Allman will did a roundtable discussion.
