    harris, jim.jpgI was born and raised in Tennessee. My wife, daughter and I chose UMMC for the program's strong reputation, patient population and proximity to home. My academic interests are emergency procedures and wilderness medicine. When away from the hospital, you will likely find me on the reservoir, the local mountain bike trails, digging ditches with my sand wedge or building various things with wood.

    Program likes: Strong faculty and curriculum, excellent exposure to high acuity patient population with very diverse pathology, exceptional training in virtually all aspects of EM, fellowship tracks and selectives/electives to custom tailor your specific interests throughout residency.

    Professional interests: Critical care medicine, ultrasonography, medical informatics, emergency medicine procedural skills

    Career plan: I'm undecided on the specific ED environment and location that I would prefer to work.
