    Health Sciences

    The Health Sciences 2+U online program is designed to allow health care personnel earn a baccalaureate degree in health sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) via an online learning environment.

    The health sciences degree program is open to all health care fields. It offers a broad, in-depth overview of health care and it is designed to provide students with an appropriate knowledge base and to facilitate the development of the analytical skills and personal characteristics necessary for health care leadership positions.

    Track I is designed to enable licensed, registered or certified health care practitioners who are graduates of a regionally accredited associate's degree health care program to earn a bachelor's degree. Track II is designed to enable administrative support personnel in academic health science centers and other health care environments to earn a bachelor's degree. Its content focuses on the administrative functions necessary to maintain and operate successful health care centers. Both Track I and Track II provide students with opportunities for career advancement when the bachelor's degree is required for promotion into management and leadership positions.

    The Health Sciences program is designed for, but not limited to, part-time, non-traditional students. Online instruction is the primary method of content delivery. The program is offered on a three-semester-per-year basis. Students may be admitted in the fall, spring or summer semester. Students who successfully complete two three-hour courses per semester can generally expect a timely completion of the health sciences degree, whether in Track I or Track II. Advisers are available by telephone, e-mail or in person at several counseling centers throughout the state.

    Health Informatics and Information Management Progression

    The Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) 2+U online progression program is designed to allow Registered Health Information Technicians (RHIT credential from the American Health Information Management Association) earn a baccalaureate degree in Health Informatics and Information Management from the University of Mississippi Medical Center via an online learning environment. Graduates of the online program are eligible to apply to write the registration examination of the American Health Information Management Association for certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).

    Dental Hygiene Advanced Standing

    The Dental Hygiene Advanced Standing 2+U online program allows registered dental hygienists to earn a baccalaureate degree in dental hygiene from the University of Mississippi Medical Center via an online learning environment. The advanced standing baccalaureate degree program in dental hygiene is intended to enhance the quality and education of dental hygienists.

    It enables practicing licensed dental hygienists to update their education background, enhance their didactic skills, improve their clinical decision making skills and receive the baccalaureate degree in dental hygiene. The program, offered across five semesters, is designed for, but not limited to part-time, non-traditional students. Online coursework is the primary method of content delivery.

    Medical Laboratory Science Progression

    The Medical Laboratory Science 2+U online progression program is designed to allow a Clinical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Technician (CLT/MLT) to receive credit for previous educational and professional experience and to earn a baccalaureate degree in medical laboratory science from the University of Mississippi Medical Center through an online program.

    Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing

    The Radiologic Sciences Advanced Standing 2+U online program allows the student to earn a baccalaureate degree in radiologic sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center through an online program and is intended to enhance the quality and education of registered radiologic technologists. It enables practicing Registered Radiologic Technologists to update their education background, enhance their didactic skills, improve their clinical decision making skills, and receive the bachelor of science in radiologic sciences.

    The program is part-time and offered across five semesters. Online coursework is the method of content delivery.
