Biographical information
Dr. Abdelkarim joined the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in 2010. He is dually trained in orthodontics and oral and maxillofacial radiology. He is a Fellow of Pierre Fauchard Academy, International Dental Honor Society, a Member of Alpha Eta Honor Society, National Honor Society, a Member of Sigma Xi Research Society, and a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists. He was the recipient of the Howard Riley Raper Award and the Radiology Centennial Scholarship Award presented by the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, and the recipient of the Scientific Reviewer Award by Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Pathology Oral Radiology Journal. '
He serves on the Editorial Review Board of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and was one of “Top 16 Reviewers” for this journal. He serves as a reviewer for Angle Orthodontist Journal, Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, The Art and Practice of Dentofacial Enhancement Journal, Orthodontics & Craniofacial Research Journal, Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Dentomaxillofacial Radiology Journal. His research appeared in peer review journals, such as the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Quebec Dental Journal, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontology, Journal of Dental Education, Orthodontics Products, and the Journal of the World Federation of Orthodontists.
He is a PhD candidate in Clinical Health Sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He holds the Advanced Certificate of Piano Performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), London, England.
