An external survey is any request for data received from off-campus agencies including individuals and professional, private, and governmental organizations. The UMMC policy regarding external surveys reads:
Surveys that pertain totally to UMMC hospitals and clinics and do not request any student or faculty data are exempt from this policy. "Official" data is that which is reported to the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL). All off-campus surveys should be referred to the Department of Institutional Research. The department will provide any data that is currently available and will assist in procuring the needed data. The completed survey should be approved by the Department of Institutional Research prior to forwarding it to the requesting organization.
