Health Careers Development Program
The Health Careers Development Program is an eight week program that provides observational learning opportunities designed to help undergraduate, graduate, and professional students/learners to explore career opportunities in health care and understand the education and skills that different occupations require.
Opportunities are available to shadow:
- Physicians
- Researchers
- Dentists
- Pharmacists
- Nurse practitioners
- Physician assistants
- Nurses
- Physical therapists
- Occupational therapists
- Dental hygienists
- Respiratory therapists

HCDP components

There are three components of HCDP for which you may apply:
- The Health Careers Development Program Term Component for the highest academic shadowing experience and credit for undergraduate, graduate, and professional observers (8 weeks).
- The Health Careers Development Program High School Component for a one-day experience (suitable for High School Advanced Seminar or Senior Project credit).
- The Health Careers Development Program Observer/Shadowing Component for a three-day experience in a particular specialty for pre-health or health related undergraduate majors.
