Originally from China, Dr. Wei Yu had already earned degrees in medicine and microbiology from Anhui Medical University in Hefei, China, before earning a Master of Combined Sciences degree in microbiology at UMMC in 1991.
Dr. Yu went on to receive his Ph.D.in virology from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston in 1995. He continued his pursuit of excellence by completing a post doctoral fellowship at Human Genome Sequencing Center of Baylor College of Medicine’s department of Molecular and Human Genetics.
Dr. Yu has served as research assistant professor at Human Genome Sequencing Center of Baylor College of Medicine, director of Microarrays Technologies at Spectral Genomics and research associate in the department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine.Currently, Dr. Yu works as a scientist/project manager for Seq Wright Genomic Service/ GE Healthcare Clarient in Houston. When he’s not working, Dr. Yu enjoys traveling with his family.
