• Nurse Practitioner Qualifications

    • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution (NLN or CCNE)
    • Nationally certified and/or re-certified Family NP or Acute Care NP (Acute Care NP must be dually certified prior to involvement with the TelEmergency program)*
    • Evidence of current unrestricted license (RN and NP) to practice in the United States and eligibility for licensure in Mississippi
    • One complete year of clinical experience as an NP preferred
    • Documentation of current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Second certification as Acute Care NP or Family NP preferred, whichever results in dual certification.*
    • Must be willing to register for the Acute Care Post Master's program if not dually certified
    • Completion of the Mississippi Nurse's Association Controlled Substance Workshop and obtain DEA certificate prior to staffing hospitals
    • Complete application/requirements to attend the educational program for "Nurse Practitioners in the Emergency Department Setting"
    • Meet privileges and credentialing requirements at respectively employed hospital
    • NOTE: Acute Care NP Certification may be completed within the first year of participation in the TelEmergency program, however, Family NP certification must be completed prior to involvement.
