The University of Mississippi Medical Center is the state's only health sciences campus. It must respond rapidly to a changing healthcare environment. A positive and professional relationship between vendors and The University of Mississippi Medical Center is essential to the institution's efficient and effective operations.
The fundamental purpose of the procedures given is to provide a foundation for aspects of the purchasing process as provided by law, and to explain and facilitate understanding of the University of Mississippi Medical Center purchasing activity and responsibilities.
The Purchasing Department is to acquire the supplies, equipment and services needed to support the activities of the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) and the University of Mississippi Health Care (UMHC). Our activities assure that every employee and staff member has what is needed to provide excellent customer service to patients, students and visitors to UMMC/UMHC. The objective is to timely process purchase requisitions and train internal customers on procurement responsibilities.
It is important to note, all requests for purchases (except capital equipment) should be entered in the Lawson Requisition Center (RQC). Capital Equipment requests for the Adult Hospital, Children's Healthcare of Mississippi, and University Physicians should be entered in Sharepoint. Paper requisitions are only necessary for capital equipment requests where University and/or Research Accounting Units are used.
