    DIS Suggestions - Printers

    1. DIS recommends printers that will work on our computer network. They have been tested and proven.
    2. DIS makes recommendations to help keep consistency on the network. Some printer drivers overwrite files needed for other printers or applications.
    3. In the future we plan to have spare printers to replace broken ones while they are being repaired. It's impossible to provide spare printers to the thousands of printers available. We must set limits.
    4. DIS makes recommendations on printers based on business needs. Cheap printers do not last, we can not get replacement parts so therefore we can not provide support for these printers. Cheap printers may last up to one year depending on use. When they break, there is no support and they must be thrown away. A new one must be purchased and this is simply not cost effective.
    5. DIS does not recommend Multi-function printers because they are unreliable. When the printer goes down it takes out many needed functions that can cripple your office. DIS recommends that you lease Multi-function printers from RJ Young. They have the resources available to maintain spare parts and provide support for their equipment.
