MS State Purchasing Laws

The Lawson Requisition Center is the online tool for Departments to request commodities and one time services based on a quote.  Equipment requests are submittedonline through SharePoint for the Adult Hospital, Batson Children's Hospital, and University Physicians.  Equipment requests for all other areas are submitted on a paper requisition.

The Mississippi State Purchasing Laws are as follows:

• Requests < (less than) $5,000.00 require one quote
• Requests between $5,000.00 and $49,999.00 require two (2) written quotes from two (2) separate vendors
• Requests > (greater than) $50,000.00 require the competitive bid process

Exception:  Items on an existing UHC, Novation, Medassets, State, or Agency Contract are exempt from the above requirements and do not require a second quote or go through the bidding process.
