WHAT IS LINC?
The Lawson Integrated Network Connection (LINC) project will put in place a common electronic data system at UMMC. LINC will equip us with new tools and ways of doing business in HR/Payroll, Supply Chain, Finance, and Grants, so that we're better integrated. We'll have better access to our data, and be more efficient and productive.
In an effort to become the best academic health center in the region and ultimately the country, we have implemented the LINC project. While the systems affected by the LINC project do not directly impact patient care, they are vital to the University's overall focus of teaching, conducting research, and providing quality patient care.
RECOMMENDED TRAINING PROGRESSION:

NOTE: Individuals who do not have basic computer competency are strongly encouraged to seek basic computer skills training through the Computer Education courses provided free of charge by UMMC Division of Information Systems prior to beginning these training cours
As we transition into our new era of data collection and maintenance, as well as institutional transparency and collaboration, through our Lawson Interface and beyond, we have also taken notice of the need to standardize our related data and processes. In an effort to drive efficiency through consistency, we have initiated change in our item master description format.
While our Lawson implementation is going to play a large role in our future by changing the landscape of data utilization, the transition will be an adjustment for many. We would like to give everyone notice that amongst those changes are the descriptions we use to identify the products ordered on a daily basis.
In a collaborative effort with our clinicians, we have created abbreviations that will be seen within their related descriptions as you place your orders within Requisition Self Service. This will allow those making determinations and placing orders to view much more information related to that product than has been consistently available in the past.
To ensure everyone has ample time and opportunity to familiarize themselves, these abbreviations and a sampling of descriptions are available in the Excel Workbooks below. We worked hard to keep core information, such as current internal item numbers used to identify items, intact to make this transition as seamless as possible.
Please review these reference documents to aide you as we pioneer this state and region into a new echelon in healthcare standards and service.
