Paycheck Distribution
Automatic deposit
All employees are required to use the direct deposit method of payment. Automatic (direct) deposit allows an employee's net pay to be deposited into his/her checking or savings account automatically on a pay day.
To begin automatic deposit, an employee must bring a blank voided personal check for their bank account, and sign an authorization card in the Payroll office. The process requires one payroll, and in some instances two, before the funds are automatically deposited. This delay is due to the pre-notification process which confirms the account information through a test process before the actual acceptance of funds is authorized. Paychecks will be mailed until this process is completed. The same process is followed anytime a change is made to the bank and/or account(s) funds are to be direct deposited into.
Biweekly and monthly automatic deposits are guaranteed to be at the employee's bank by the pay date. Currently UMMC has two methods of distributing the direct deposit pay advices. We encourage all employees to enroll in the electronic distribution of this information. If you have not enrolled in this option, please do so by clicking here for detailed instructions on enrolling. By doing so, the pay advices are available to the employee at 12:01 a.m. through employee self-service, providing the department head has approved the department time voucher for that department. This information will then remain easily accessible to the employee for years to come, and may be printed as needed.
For now, those employees wishing to continue receiving printed copies of their direct deposit advices, the forms are picked up in the payroll office by each department's administrator for distribution on the pay day.
Mail
Paychecks are mailed to employees in the pre-note phase before automatic direct deposits have taken effect. The mailing address used for these paychecks is the address on file in Human Resources. Address changes must be forwarded to the Benefits office. The address change forms may either be printed from the employee self-service benefits section or may be obtained in the Benefits office.
