Student/Employee Health
The Student/Employee Health Department, responsible for student health and on-the-job employee injuries, is located in Room N-136. A Quick Care Clinic for employees is housed in the UMMC Pavilion.
The hours or operation are 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, except on official UMMC holidays.
If students or employees should become ill or sustain injury after normal workday hours, they are encouraged to seek care at UMMC's Emergency Department if necessary.
Employees
UMMC employees and their immediate families who need to see a physician for minor illnesses can get an appointment within 24 hours through Quick Care Clinic. Most patients will be seen the same day they call for an appointment.
The clinic, staffed by the Department of Family Medicine, handles common and acute illnesses, such as sore throat, earache, upper respiratory, urinary tract infections, flu and gastrointestinal infections as well as minor emergencies, such as sprains or rashes and yearly preventive medicine physicals.
To schedule an appointment, employees should call 4-CARE (601 984-2273), a dedicated line through UMMC's Access Center. The clinic is located in the University Physicians Pavilion.
Students

Students may receive nursing care, first aid and over-the counter medications on an as-needed basis during all hours of operation. Standard sick call hours are staffed by a nurse practitioner and/or a physician. Sick call hours are 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m.
Staff members at Student/Employee Health have no role in any student's academic assessment or evaluation.
In case of class conflicts, appointments can be scheduled by calling (601) 984-1185. If a student is sick and a physician is not immediately available, the nursing staff of Student/Employee Health will make arrangements to have the student seen by an external physician.
