    Below is a list of employee discounts offered to University of Mississippi Medical Center employees.

    Geyser Falls

    A special discounted rate is available for UMMC staff and students. UMMC photo ID is required. For more information, click here.

    Youpon

    We recently announced the launch of the Youpon program, which will extend discount offers from both local and national merchants to employees via their personal smartphone, tablet, or computer. 

    To register for Youpon, simply visit www.emfuze.com and complete the registration form.  When you are asked for your employer, please put UMMC.  You will be asked your preferred email address, city and state, but no other personal or confidential information.

    Automobile discount

    Employees may purchase a new Wilson Dodge, Wilson Kia or Wilson Hyundai through the Wilson Auto Group on Lakeland Drive in Flowood at $500 over dealer cost. Present your ID badge at the time of your visit to identify yourself as a UMMC employee. For each vehicle sold through this program, Wilson Auto Group will donate $100 to the Children's Cancer Center at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

    Cafeteria discount

    The University of Mississippi Medical Center main cafeteria, located on the first floor of the hospital, is open 24 hours a day. Employees wearing a UMMC identification badge receive a 20% discount on food and beverages.

    Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants and Norman C. Nelson Student Union cafeterias as well as the specialty line, the old staff dining room, medical staff dining room, student union commons and the new gourmet coffee kiosks offer the same 20% discount during normal operating hours. These locations also accept debit or credit cards for all purchases. Employees can also purchase eggs, milk and bread in the main cafeteria.

    Part-time and full-time UMMC faculty and staff may now pay for food purchases through payroll deduction, up to a maximum amount per pay period, by presenting their identification badge at the cashier counter.

    Enrollment is not automatic. The applicable form, which includes both the participation agreement and election form, must be completed in advance to enroll. Forms are available at any cafeteria location or the Food and Nutrition Department. Completed forms can be placed in drop boxes at the above locations or sent to the Food and Nutrition Department through campus mail. For more information, call (601) 984-2070.

    Cellular service discount

    The following cellular service companies provide discounts for UMC faculty and staff.

    • AT&T
      For AT&T’s Cellular Discount Program, employees will receive 15% off their monthly rate and accessories by presenting your UMC ID badge to any AT&T Authorized Billing Center and applying discount (FAN #2387675) to your account.     • Sprint

    • Verizon
      For Verizon's Cellular Discount Program, new and existing employees may qualify to receive 15% off their monthly rate and 25% off accessories. To see the discounts you are eligible for visit the Verizon Wireless website - on this webpage enter your zip code, and then your work e-mail address. Once your information is confirmed you will receive an email including the available discounts.

    Employee Assistance Program

    The University of Mississippi Medical Center is committed to helping its employees and students achieve balance for a healthier workplace and home.

    Confidential employee assistance line is available 24 hours a day at (866) 219-1232. The program is not available to employee spouses or dependents. For more information, click here.

    Quick Care service

    UMMC faculty and staff and their family members (defined by the IRS) who need a physician for minor illnesses can get an appointment within 24 hours through the Quick Care service provider. Most patients will be seen the same day they call for an appointment. Quick Care is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and is located in the Lakeland Family Medicine Center, 764 Lakeland Drive, 2nd floor. To schedule an appointment, call the Access Center at 4-CARE (4-2273). Preregistration by phone will minimize wait time.

    Microsoft Office Home Use Program

    The Microsoft Office Home Use Program is still available to all UMMC employees, faculty and staff for only $9.95. This program allows UMMC employees, faculty and staff to order one licensed copy of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 to download and install on a personally owned computer. Students, contractors, and other non-employees who may have UMMC e-mail accounts are not eligible.

    Eligible employees may order only one license per Microsoft software title. A licensed copy of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 software includes:

    UMMC employees receive discounted prices on Dell products (up to 30% off select PCs and tablets) and select electronics and accessories (up to 5%).

    Note: This website and phone number should NOT be used to purchase UMMC departmental computers. This discount is strictly for the purchase of personal home computers.

    Fitness discount

    Employees may be eligible for a discount at participating fitness centers.

    Homebuyer assistance

    The University of Mississippi Medical Center and the City of Jackson offer first-time home buyers in the Jackson city limits an opportunity to receive up to $6,000 towards a down payment, closing costs or other associated costs toward the purchase of a home. The benefit is available to all part-time and full-time UMMC employees who have satisfied their initial 90 days of employment.

    Program requirements include:

    • Home must be located within the Jackson city limits.
    • First-time home buyer (no interest in a property during the past three year).
    • Property must be used as a primary residence.
    • Household income requirements must be below the HUD limits for Jackson. 
    • An approved mortgage loan.
    • Attend and complete Homeownership Training Program.

    The City of Jackson HOME Investment Partnership Program at IDS:

    The minimum assistance will be up to $25,000 per household for down payment, closing costs, gap financing and principal reduction with the maximum assistance based upon the individual family needs for housing resources not to exceed $35,000.  Additional housing resources include:

    Retrofitting up to $3000 to make the home accessible, energy efficiency updates up to $5000 and home maintenance/rehab up to $2000 per household.  

    Health care and pharmacy discounts

    All UMMC employees and their family members - whether covered by the State of Mississippi Health Insurance Plan or not - as well as UMMC students are eligible for a hospital services discount.

    This benefit will be a 20% discount on the total charges for hospital and physician services. Therefore, since NO DEDUCTIBLE IS APPLIED, this benefit starts at the FIRST DOLLAR of expenses.

    The UMMC Pavilion pharmacy (984-6455) and Jackson Medical Mall pharmacy (815-3857) offer a 20% discount on prescription drugs to UMMC employees and their dependents covered under the State of Mississippi Health Insurance Plan. Only prescriptions written by UMMC providers are accepted. The discount will apply towards the amount owed by the participant for the prescription drug.

    Part-time and full-time Medical Center faculty and staff may now pay for prescriptions through payroll deduction by presenting their identification badge at the counter.

    Allowable family members are the employee's dependents as defined by the IRS.

    VIP program

    UMMC faculty and staff and their family members (defined by the IRS) covered by the state employee health plan or other private insurance plans can schedule appointments with participating VIP Employee Program clinics by calling the Access Center's dedicated VIP telephone number at 4-CARE (4-2273).

    The Access Center is available from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Night shift and weekend employees and their families may call the Access Center and leave a voice mail or e-mail accesscenter@clinassoc.umsmed.edu.

    UMMC employees and their families will receive the highest priority for an appointment. After meeting their deductible, they will be eligible to receive a 20% discount.

    Participating clinics include allergy and immunology, colon cancer screening, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pain clinic, cardiology, diabetes clinic, neurology, otolaryngology and audiology.

    Tax preparation

    Jackson Hewitt Tax Service offers quality tax preparation services at an attractive discount,including:

    • A variety of products and services.
    • On-site education tax seminars where available.
    • Year-round service.

    University of Mississippi season tickets

    The University of Mississippi offers to full-time employees hired by July 1 of the current year, up to two discounted season tickets in each sport for the employee's personal use, subject to the Athletics Department guidelines designating which types of season tickets are available for the discount.

    Single game tickets are not available through discount. To receive this discount, contact the Ole Miss Athletic Ticket Office Customer Service line at (888) 732-8587. The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics reserves the right at its sole discretion to limit the number of discounted tickets.

    Scholarships for children of employees

    • The never married, dependent children of full-time employees who were hired prior to July 1, 1977, are eligible for FULL SCHOLARSHIPS to the undergraduate programs of the University of Mississippi and University of Mississippi Medical Center. The scholarships cover registration fees and tuition. Activity fees are not included.
    • The never married, dependent children of full-time employees who were hired after July 1, 1977, will be eligible for a scholarship of ONE HALF the normal tuition.
    • If BOTH spouses are full-time UMMC employees and are employed the first day of each scheduled registration, the dependent child will receive FULL (100%) TUITION REMISSION (exclusive of the student activity fee and orientation fee). Other costs, such as books, food and housing, must be paid by the student.
    • This benefit is also available for the children of RETIREES who have at least 10 consecutive years employment at UMMC prior to their retirement.

    The scholarship is automatically renewable on a semester to semester basis provided a 2.0 grade point average is maintained. Eligibility continues until requirements for one baccalaureate degree are met at this institution.

    Note: Students who receive this scholarship are not eligible to apply for other University scholarships.

    Application forms and information on the scholarships may be obtained through the University of Mississippi at www.olemiss.edu/finaid/pdf/faculty_staff_child.pdf. These forms are returned to the HR Director's Office, which forwards them to Ole Miss for approval.

    Tuition benefits

    Full-time employees who have completed the 90-day initial employment period are eligible for tuition and lab fee reimbursement/remission for up to two (2) academic credit courses per semester (6 hours) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and University of Mississippi. The employee must pay for activity fees, books, taxes, etc., if applicable.

    Employees taking courses at UMMC can pick up an employee tuition benefit form in Student Accounting. This form must be completed/approved by the department head each semester and returned to Student Accounting.

    Employees taking courses at Ole Miss must complete the Employee Tuition Benefit form available online or contact the HR Administration (R102A) at (601) 984-1126 for a form. The form must be completed by the department head each semester and returned to the HR director, who will forward to Ole Miss for approval.

    Note: There are two different employee tuition forms, one for UMMC and one for Ole Miss.

    Nursing tuition

    Registered nurses (RNs)and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) working within the Department of Nursing Service who meet the following requirements are eligible to participate in a tuition program.

    • Eligibility
      • All full-time RNs (associate degrees and diploma only) and LPNs after completion of six months on the job.
      • Employees must fulfill a work commitment period after course completion to be eligible for reimbursement. Reimbursement is made after completion of the program.
      • All part-time RNs (associate degrees and diploma only) and LPNs after completion of one year on the job. Part-time is defined as 20 hours or more up to 40 per week.
    • Requirements
      • The employee must work a period of one month for each semester hour for which he/she was reimbursed (i.e., one three-hour course requires three months of work subsequent to the completion of the course).
      • If the employee terminates employment prior to fulfillment of this obligation, he/she will forfeit (or must repay) the entire amount of tuition for that course work or challenge exam.
      • The employee will sign a certificate of understanding regarding stipulations of "1" & "2".
    • Reimbursement
      • Reimbursement will be at the rate of tuition (or challenge exam) costs of the involved institution. Only direct tuition costs and lab fees are allowed (activity fees, books, etc., will not be included).
      • Full-time employees may receive 100 percent of direct tuition costs and lab fees up to $1,000 per plan year (Jan. 1-Dec. 31) depending upon the availability of funds.
      • Part-time employees (20 hours or more up to 40 per week) may receive 50 percent of direct tuition costs and lab fees up to $500 per plan year depending upon the availability of funds.
      • Reimbursement of tuition will require the employee to work for University Hospital for a period of time after successful completion of course work.
    • Courses eligible for reimbursement
      • Courses required to obtain an associate or baccalaureate degree in nursing, offered and taken through an approved school of nursing.
      • Challenge exams for (clinical) subjects required to obtain an AD or BS nursing degree.
    • Acceptable schools
      • Any university or college accredited by a national or a state accrediting institution of nursing.
    • Grade requirements
      • Any approved undergraduate course will be reimbursed upon completion of the course with a grade of "C" or above. Any fee for an approved challenge examination will be reimbursed upon evidence of successful challenge.
    • Application for reimbursement
      • Applications are available from the Nursing Retention and Recruitment Department upon request. Applications must be completed and returned to the Office of Retention and Recruitment.
    • Obtaining reimbursement
      • Upon completion of the course(s), grades and receipts for tuition and lab fees must be submitted to the Nursing Retention and Recruitment Department. Upon successful challenge of a course, evidence of academic credit and fee receipt must be submitted to the Office of Retention and Recruitment.
    • Restriction
      • Financial aid from any other sources, such as GI Bill or scholarship funds, will be deducted from allowable University Hospital tuition assistance, and the student will receive only the difference.
