    The University of Mississippi Medical Center coordinates opportunities for employees to receive confidential counseling services for school-related, personal and family matters. Employees are a valuable part of this institution and we care about their needs and any issues that arise in their lives. 

    The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), managed by LifeSynch offers help and assistance to employees as well as their families.

    Licensed professional counselors are available to speak with you 24/7 to help address your issues and guide you to appropriate resources.

    Is there a cost to use this service?

    No. Employees and students may receive up to 3 counseling sessions with a licensed counselor or psychologist, per problem. The University of Mississippi Medical Center provides this service at no cost to the employee or student. If you require additional counseling or services beyond what is covered by the Employee Assistance Program, there may be additional costs.

    How do I get started?

    The EAP is here for you anytime you need help. As a part of the program, you have access to a comprehensive resource. When you call, you'll talk with a licensed professional counselor who will:

    • Ask about your situation
    • Help clarify the problem
    • Offer guidance and support
    • Connect you with experts who can help

    What services are available?

    Just about any concern imaginable can be addressed. They range from simple to complex and fall mainly in the following categories:

    • Stress
    • Anxiety
    • Depression
    • Relationship difficulties
    • Family and parenting problems
    • Alcohol, drug or other addictions
    • Grief and loss
    • Child care
    • Financial issues
    • Legal consultations
    • Change and transition

    What about confidentiality?

    All services provided by the Employee Assistance Program are 100 percent confidential and comply with all state and federal requirements.

    Information is not released to UMMC without your express written permission. The only exceptions are in "Duty to Warn" cases such as child abuse or threats to self or others.
