    Calling all chefs

    It is time to rally the teams and create a culinary delight for 2013 Taste of the U. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, Feb. 23, for the date that the Jackson Medical Mall will be transformed into a fun and delicious venue. We are pleased to have Drs. Richard and Suzanne Miller as the honorary chairs of this year's event.

    For over 20 years, the Taste of the U, the major fundraiser of the UMMC Alliance, has proudly raised money to support the needs of our patients, students, staff and facilities. The success of this ambitious evening is entirely due to the generous participation of UMMC volunteer chefs and their teams.

    We don't believe that there can be too many cooks in this kitchen! The Taste Committee invites you to form a team and enjoy all of the fun with friends as well as the camaraderie within your department. Please join us for a friendly competition to win "Best Presentation," "People's Choice," "Children's Choice," "Best Taste," "Heart Healthy" and the coveted prize of "Best Overall," which comes with the Big Pig and bragging rights for the next year. This year, first and second runners-up will also be announced for "Best Overall."

    Which award will your team take home? Please let us know if you will gather your team and wear chef's attire to help in the 2013 Taste of the U. All it takes is that you prepare 350 bites/spoonfuls of your favorite dish and to show up to have a good time.
